Start-up of a study on Inter-Combustibles

OTEPI starts up a study on inter-combustibles, thus initiating the conceptual and basic engineering contract for projects with the Venezuelan firm, INTEVEP

OTEPI recently signed a contract with INTEVEP to develop studies in areas such as thermal conversion, hydrogenation, de-sulphurizing of oil byproducts and the enhancement of heavy crude oil, amongst others. This month the study on inter-combustibles will commence, and will take approximately five months.

Luis Mogollón, its Project Manager, explains what this project consists of: “We are developing a study of the competition between different combustibles used to generate electricity, taking into account different cycles or generating systems in new or existing plants, with the objective of determining the best growth or transformation options that exist for the national electrical park. All of this complying with existing environmental restrictions.”

“The idea -continues Mogollón- is to optimize and rationalize the use of these combustibles for electric generation, in accordance with to the variables present in the Venezuelan reality.”

INTEVEP is a subsidiary of Petróleos de Venezuela, S.A., PDVSA, whose strategic orientation is to generate global technological solutions with special emphasis on the activities of Exploration, Production, Refining and Industrialization. Likewise, it is the responsibility of INTEVEP to safeguard the Corporation’s technological assets.
