OTEPI gives two lectures at the VII Annual ASME-USB 2008 Engineering Congress, “Engineering without borders” |
|
Before an auditorium full of engineering students, professors and international participants, engineers Pablo Tellería and Ramón Noroño read their papers: Steam Tracing and Effort Analysis in Piping, Beyond Code B31, respectively.
The developments they presented centered on two of the fields worked on in the piping department in the last few years, and which have been put into practice in projects for clients such as PETROCEDEÑO and INITEC.
“This kind of participation is vital for OTEPI; on the one hand, it gives us the opportunity to present the new developments executed by the technical unit; and, on the other hand, it allows us to keep in contact with ASME and with the Simon Bolivar University (USB), which ensures that the students are exposed to the subjects they’ll face once they step into the work-a-day world,” says Gilberto de Jesús, manager of the technical unit.

The American Society for Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is an international society focused on technical education and research programs, having more than 125,000 members worldwide, including 23,000 student members, of which 306 live in Venezuela. ASME conducts more than 30 conferences and 200 professional development courses every year, and sets many industrial and manufacturing standards.
Simon Bolivar University (Universidad Simón Bolívar – USB) is a public, free and experimental institution, created in 1967. It began its academic activities in 1970, in Caracas. Since then, around 25,000 high-quality professionals have graduated from its halls, as well as five thousand specialists, teachers and doctors.
